The Ten Steps of a Hero's Quest
Step 1- Ordinary world, begins with hero at home
Step 2- The call to adventure, hero gets call to go on journey
Step 3- Refusal to the call, hero doubts himself and questions whether to go on journey
Step 4- Accepting the call, hero accepts call
Step 5- Entering the unknown, hero enters place that is unfamiliar
Step 6- Supernatural aid/magical items, hero receives/help from mythical creatures/gods and hero receives help or magical items
Step 7- Allies/Friends, throughout the journey epic heroes have friends that help
Step 8- Test to prove worthiness of the quest and moments of doubt, hero gets defeated and down on himself
Step 9- Reward and journey home, goal finally achieved and hero receives award
Step 10- Order and power is restored, epic hero creates order to be restored and hero is now powerful

Step 6: when Morpheus gave Ulysses and his crew lotus flowers which are magical flowers that make you fall asleep.
The Cyclops Cave - Chapter 4
Step 5: when they entered the Cyclops's cave.
Step 7: when they put Polyphemus' eye out.
Step 8: how they were supposed to get out of the cave.
Keeper of the winds- Chapter 5
Step 5- When Ulysses enters the unknown palace of Aeolus.
Step 6- When Aeolus gives Ulysses the magical bag of winds.
Cannibal Beach- Chapter 6
Step 8- Ulysses is attacked by giant cannibals which tests
his abilities to survive.
Circe- Chapter 7
Step 5: When Ulysses and his crew enter the unknown fortress of Circe.
Step 6: When Hermes comes to Ulysses aid and gives him a magical cloak.

Step 8 - Ulysses thinks that he will be stuck on Calypso's island forever.
Ino's Veil - Chapter 14
Step 5 - Ulysses enters an unknown island.
Step 6 - Ino lends Ulysses her Veil getting Ulysses to the nearest island very safely.
Step 7 - Calypso tries to help Ulysses return home to Ithaca by giving him a boat, and Ino gives him a belt so he won't drown.
Step 8 - Ulysses thinks that he will die when Poseidon is trying to drown him.
Step 9 - Calypso gives Ulysses a boat and lets him try to sail to Ithaca.
Nausicaa- chapter 15
step 5 - Ulysses enters another unknown island after escaping Poseidon.
Step 7 - nausicaa helps Ulysses by letting him stay on her island and regain his health from his so far to be a long voyage. Also the king of the island, Nausicaa's father helped Ulysses by providing him with a ship and a safe sail home back to Ithaca.
The Return -chapter 16
step 8 - Ulysses proves his worthiness to the suitors by being able to pull back the bow.
step 9 - Ulysses receives the award of freedom to live with his family.
step 10 - Ulysses' authority is restored as being king of Ithaca.
