Ino's veil
chapter 14
Summary
In this chapter Calypso goes above and beyond what the gods tell her, and she gives Ulysses a ship that will smoothy sail him home to Ithaca instead of raft. As Ulysses is sailing, Poseidon notices his ship. Poseidon is angry that he is still alive and decides to make a very large storm with massive waves. Ulysses was in much danger until someone named Ino notices what is happening to Ulysses. She decides to help because she has been hurt by Ulysses before. Ino gives Ulysses a veil and tells him that it will help him to never drown. She then says to swim across the sea to an island. When Ulysses gets there he finds that he cannot get on to the land because of large boulders and or rocks. Finally Ulysses sees a break in the current and swims in the river to find land. Ulysses had not eaten for two days and was very weak. He then shipped back Ino's veil across the sea and collapsed.

Research:
In this chapter, Ino saved Ulysses' from Poseidon by lending him her veil getting him to the nearest island safely without drowning. So i further researched Ino because of her importance in the novel, "The Adventures of Ulysses". Ino was a mortal queen of Thebes, and after her death she was worshiped as a goddess known as "The White Goddess". Others called her "The Queen of the Sea". Also Ino raised Dionysus, which was her nephew. This raised Hera's jealousy, so she struck Ino's husband, Athamas.
